Before I start I would just like to say try to have a good nights kip the night before. I couldn’t sleep at all and it as only because of a redbull overdose that I managed to stay awake through the exam.
Captain Fletcher took me in and asked for my discharge book and passport. He asked about what ships I had been on and showed me a poster saying that my phone had to be switched off. I was told they normally had an informal chat to calm people down, but the reaming commenced pretty much straight away.
INSTRUMENTS Took me over to the magnetic compass What is the compass bowl made of? What is inside the compass bowl? Where would I find the positions of the hard iron magnets. Deviation card Where was deviation card kept
PAB take a reading? Any corrections
Hydrometer?? Would I use the one he had ?? no chance it looked like it had just been dug up!! Asked how to take a reading and corrections. What is DWA and the formula??
Sextant pick it up?? What is side error??
That was it I was all over the instruments like a cheap suit!!!
GENERAL
You are on the bridge of a ship getting ready to leave port and the pilot comes onto the bridge what information would you be giving him??
What info is on the pilot card??

Best feeling in the world. On the way out had a bit of a celebration with the lads in the security office and met big will who had a cigar ready. IT WAS TIME TO HIT THE SHOT!!!!!!!!

All I can say is it is not as bad as you think not that it will make any difference to you because I all but shat myself waiting outside. Captain Fletcher is a good guy and he is fair and Is definitely there to pass you. If you study and put in the work you will pass.
